Dermal Fillers
When the underlying collagen and elastin fibers begin to break down and wear out, facial wrinkles and creases begin to appear on your skin and lips. Wrinkles and creases may also appear as a result of excessive squinting, smoking, frowning, and smiling. Dermal fillers can help you maintain your youthful appearance.
Dermal fillers, wrinkle filler treatments, are performed by our trained professionals in our state-of-the-art office and take only a few minutes.
How do Dermal Fillers work?
Taking approximately 30 minutes, treatments are done in our office. The results are immediate. The Dermal Fillers contains hyaluronic acid in the form of a gel that is injected into the skin to create volume. The result is a healthy, natural, and vital appearance. When injected into the lip it can restore a more natural and/or sensuous look.
Which areas respond the best to Dermal Fillers?
If you are trying to diminish or eliminate fine lines in the forehead, "crow's feet" at the outer corners of the eyes, wrinkles between the eyes, on the cheeks and at the corners of the mouth, Dermal Fillers are a great option. Even deeper wrinkles on the cheeks and chin respond well to treatment. One can achieve the effect of a "pouting" lip through a lip enhancement with Dermal Fillers. Current and former smokers find this treatment particularly helpful in diminishing the appearance of "Smoker's Lines", fine vertical lines along the edges of the lip.
What are the treatments like?
The treatment is performed by injecting the filler gel under the skin. No pre-test is needed, resulting in a treatment that can be completed in less than 30 minutes. Most patients do not require any pain relief. However, added comfort is made possible through the application of an anesthetic cream about an hour before the injections are done.
How long do Dermal Fillers last?
The answer is - it varies from individual to individual. Your skin, your lifestyle and your age are all factors that may affect the length of time the treatments last. However, most patients find the effects last for 9 months. Due to the higher blood flow to the lip area, the average lip treatment lasts for about 6 months.
The great news…. Dermal Fillers can be replenished whenever you feel the need. Unlike permanent implants, filler treatments can be performed again once the effect has worn off. A touch-up can be performed any time you like.
How will I look after my Dermal Filler treatment?
After our doctor performs your injections, you may resume normal activities right away. You may experience minor swelling at the treatment, but it should not last more than a few hours. Any minor bruising can be covered with make-up.
Botox
Botox has been used for years to treat wrinkles and facial creases. Botox is a brand name of a toxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum.
Where is Botox most effective?
Botox is most often used on forehead lines, “crow’s feet” – fine lines around the eyes, and frown lines. It is important to note that wrinkles caused by sun damage and gravity will not respond to Botox treatment.
How are Botox procedures done?
Botox is injected with a fine needle into specific muscles with only minor discomfort. Botox treatments take only a few minutes and require no anesthesia.
Are there any Side Effects of Botox?
The most common side effect of Botox is temporary bruising. Though rarely seen, some may experience headaches, which end in 24 to 48 hours. A very small number may develop eyelid drooping, but this usually ends within three weeks. Drooping usually happens when the Botox moves around, so do not rub the treated area for 12 hours after injection or lie down for 3 to 4 hours.
Should Anyone Avoid Botox?
Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, as well as individuals with neurological diseases should not use Botox.
Is Botox safe?
Botox has been used safely and effectively for years. It is an increasingly popular treatment for reversing the visible signs of aging. There is, of course, some minor risk with any medical treatment or procedure. That is why we recommend consulting with your physician before making a decision.
Our team of professionals can help you decide if Botox treatments or Dermal Fillers are right for you. Please call to schedule your consultation at (516) 746-1111.
