Dentures
At PM Dental Care we use state-of-the-art denture technology to fabricate new dentures for our patients.
We accurately reproduce our patients’ current, comfortably fitting dentures and either create replicas with new materials or maintain the fit but with improved esthetics for the new dentures. Either way, this is a significant change and improvement from the old method of creating a new denture from scratch. The end result is a more comfortable, more esthetically pleasing denture that will give you the smile you desire.
Three types of dentures make up the vast majority made for patients. They are:
Immediate dentures - Dr. Druz makes immediate dentures for patients with existing teeth that need to be removed and replaced by a complete set of dentures. Patients that need immediate dentures are typically:
• In pain and cannot wait any longer for treatment.
• In need of having teeth surgically removed.
• Younger in age and will not be seen without teeth.
Each immediate denture patient will receive two dentures: a clear surgical set to be used while healing from surgery and a final denture to wear from 5 weeks until the final reline at 9 months. During this reline period, patients use their clear surgical denture while the final denture is at the lab. In this way, the patient has a comfortable denture to wear every day during the process.
New denture with same comfort of old denture - Patients often come in with existing dentures that feel good, but have worn out, smell bad, or have developed a lot of bacteria. Though the patient is comfortable with the fit, he or she is somewhat dissatisfied with the visual appearance. These dentures are for patients who:
• Want a newer denture that is equally as comfortable as their existing one, while increasing the esthetic quality with longer and lighter teeth.
• Want to avoid going through the process again for fear of not being able to recreate the comfort and fit.
• Are happy with the comfort or their current denture or may want a slightly tighter fit.
• Need new dentures due to excessive bacterial that has developed within the denture that makes them more susceptible to candidiasis and denture stomatitis.
Exact replica of existing denture- The last group of denture users typically seen are:
• Want No to change their denture.
• In the most senior age group.
• May suffer from Alzheimer’s disease or dementia.
